Building History

Originally built for the city of Idaho Falls as the Andrew Carnegie Library in 1916, our museum first started in 1982 when the Bonneville Historical County took over the vacated building after it was no longer sufficient enough for the library. In 2003, an additional 20,000 square feet was added with the purchase of an adjunct Masonic Temple. Now listed on the registry for National Historic places, the Museum of Idaho offers a unique historical and educational background unlike any other meeting space.

Room & Facility Rental

With two available renting options, you can rent single rooms or the entire museum:

Option 1: Single Room Rental During Regular Business Hours

• Room rental fees are based on regular business hours:
  • Monday & Tues: 9am – 8pm
  • Wed. – Sat. 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Room rental(s) include entrance to the museum for all those in attendance of the function
• Room availability varies based on each exhibit

Option 2: Entire Museum Rental (After Hours)

• Provides exclusive access to the entire museum after business hours: Wed – Sat, 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Maeck Family Foundation Education Center

Housed in the same parking lot with our main historical building, our education center is also available for rental during or after our operating hours.

Housed with a serving and preparation area, our facility has exclusivity working with Red Lion Catering in providing you with the most professional and appetizing entrees, drinks, and hors d’ oeuvres that will add a touch of class for any event.
